Welcome to Terra di Arquata, the family wine estate of Giacomo Eupizi in Arquata del Tronto, in the
Marche region of central Italy. Our vineyards sit between 600 and 1,000 metres above sea level, in the only municipality in Europe to lie within two national parks the Sibillini Mountains and the
Monti della Laga. This is heroic mountain viticulture low yields, steep slopes, and roughly double the hand-work of a hillside vineyard.
The wine
Pecorino is a crisp, mineral white with vibrant acidity and notes of citrus and mountain herbs a wine
built to age. We grow it both on grafted rootstock from our own local clones and as rare piede franco (own-rooted) vines, using ancestral methods handed down in Arquata for
generations.
A different origin story
Arquata del Tronto is the documented birthplace of Pecorino. In our tradition, “Pecorino” was first the name of a wine a blend of white and red grapes made by Benedictine monks long before
it became the name of a single grape variety. If you want the full history and sources, read it on our research site: https://www.vinopecorino.eu
